About Us


L.A. Bolden Company is a real estate development firm based in Washington, DC and Atlanta, GA. Our founder, Lisa Bolden, is a graduate of Spelman College and holds an MBA in finance from the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania. She began her career on Wall Street at Morgan Stanley, working in real estate and health care investment banking. From there, she worked at the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development as a senior executive under Secretary Jack Kemp, focusing on health care and multi-family housing. 

The team at L.A. Bolden Company includes specialists in a wide variety of communities, and we serve clients who need select services, such as FHA, multi-family and health care financing, and other financing instruments. We also have expertise in Low-Income Housing Tax Credit and Federal Home Loan Bank financing. Current Projects


The Lewis

Opening in April 2022, The Lewis is a brand-new senior (age 62+) community nestled in the center of the rapidly developing Town Square at Suitland Federal Center. This six-story, 137 unit building is part of a vibrant pedestrian-oriented neighborhood created through the Towne Square at Suitland Federal Center redevelopment, an initiative of the Prince Georges County Redevelopment Authority that includes over 25 acres of townhouses, retail and residential development.

The Lewis features sleek kitchens with brand-new, stainless-steel Energy Star appliances and granite countertops, with an open concept living space. Residents will enjoy a rooftop terrace, yoga room, fitness center, rooftop party room and ground-level club room. Gathering-friendly laundry rooms are located on each floor, and some floorplans have in-unit washers/dryers. The building is energy efficient, which results in healthy homes with low utility costs. Each unit also comes equipped with Verizon cable and internet services included within the rent. The Lewis Apartments is named after the Honorable John Lewis, the late, great civil rights activist and politician.

In partnership, the L.A.Bolden Company (aka The LAB Group Inc.), Mission First Housing Group and The Henson Development Company responded to the Prince George’s County Redevelopment Authority (RDA) RFP 2016-6 in August of 2016. Our development team was selected to develop the subject property due to our creative design concept and history of developing quality properties.

The Lewis Apartments provides price-accessible housing for seniors age 62+ with 72 apartments priced at 50% Average Median Income (“AMI”) rents, 45 apartments at 60% AMI rents, 16 apartments at 80% AMI rents, and four apartments that are unrestricted/market-rate rents.

A special feature of the project will be the location of a seniors’ community service center owned and operated by the White Rose Foundation, Inc., a nonprofit entity affiliated with the Prince George’s County Maryland Chapter of The Links Incorporated. The White Rose Foundation purchased close to 2,000 square feet of Class A space located on the first floor of The Lewis. In addition to providing services for seniors, the space will serve as a meeting and special event space for local Links chapters.

The Lewis is financed through a combination of 4% Federal Low Income Housing Tax Credits (LIHTCs) with R4 Capital as the investor,
tax-exempt bonds issued by the State of Maryland Community Development Administration (MD CDA), a Fulton Bank construction loan, a Freddie Mac Tax-Exempt Loan in the permanent phase serviced by Berkadia, a Maryland CDA Rental Housing Works loan and a Prince George’s County HOME loan. Total project development cost for The Lewis Apartments was $34.4 million.

The Belnor, is a close to $30Million new construction project for seniors. This 122 unit building, located at 3800 St. Barnabas Rd., Suitland, Maryland opened in December, 2018, after 18 months of construction.
